The Reepham Business Network (RBN) is making a few changes to its format with the aim of getting more local businesses involved and benefiting from the mutual support provided by the group.

The RBN will now meet once a month on the first Thursday of each month from 7.30 am until 9 am at The Crown, 90 Ollands Road, Reepham. The first of these meetings will be on 3 October.

There are no fees or membership, just the cost of a bacon (or egg) roll and tea or coffee for £8.

Although the group will still discuss business issues in the usual casual way, each meeting will have a theme (e.g., marketing, social media, promotion of local businesses, etc.).

“The advice around the table is always free, but the idea is to hopefully extend that in a more beneficial and focused way,” said RBN founder David Laws.

“We’d love to see some new faces and encourage people to come along and share details of their Reepham and district businesses to promote themselves in a friendly local environment.

“We look forward to seeing all our usual RBN friends and some new ones too.”

The next meeting is planned for Thursday 3 October. To register to attend or for further information, please contact Jackie Collinson by email for further details.

The Reepham Business Network (RBN) has restarted its regular breakfast meetings at The Crown, 90 Ollands Road, Reepham, which are usually held every other Thursday from 7.30 am until about 9 am.

There is plenty of space, a warm welcome and a chance for local businesspeople to get together for a general catch-up and to share ideas over a bacon or egg roll and coffee/tea.

It is not just about networking and, as much as anything, it is about mutual support between the respective businesses and getting to know and build up trust with the people there.

The businesspeople normally attending are mainly from Reepham and the surrounding district, but there are a few from further afield. And from time to time the RBN will be having a designated speaker on a given topic for added interest.

There are no fees or membership involved – just the cost of the bacon roll and tea/coffee.

The next meeting is planned for Thursday 2 February.

Local businesses in the Reepham district have voted to remain in the European Union.

At this morning’s meeting of the Reepham Business Network held at the Dial House, 20 businesspeople heard passionate yet reasoned arguments for and against the UK remaining a member of the EU.

Speaking for the “leave” campaign, Rex Warner made the case for “Brexit” based on his views of vision, democracy and freedom. He concluded that the only way for the UK to improve healthcare, education, housing and the economy is to “vote leave”.

Andrew Toomey and Richard Cooke argued for the UK’s continued EU membership. Mr Toomey said that, while there is most probably a need for the change within the EU, “we should retain our seat at the table to ensure that we can influence those changes”.

Mr Cooke agreed, adding that a main concern is that the issue might get decided by “old people like us” and that we “need to think more about future generations”.

At the end of the debate, a ballot showed 15 in favour of remaining in the EU, four voted to leave the EU, with one undecided.

The Reepham Business Network is an informal group of small businesses and professional people working in and around the town. It discusses issues of mutual interest and, on occasion, invites guest speakers to meetings.

The RBN meets from 7.30–9 am on alternate Thursdays, usually at V’s Café Townsend Corner, Reepham. There is no membership charge – just pay £6 for breakfast, but please let us know if you intend to come. Contact: David Laws 01603 871126 or 07933 149810. Email: dal@davidlaws-solicitors.com or info@reephambusinessnetwork.org.uk

The next meeting will be at 7.30 am on Thursday 26 May.
