School leavers’ celebration cancelled at Foulsham Primary

Year six pupils at Foulsham Primary School were reportedly left in tears following news that a barbecue to mark the end of their time at the school would not take place.
 
Parents said no explanation had been offered for the cancellation, although a letter to parents said the decision was due to staffing issues.
 
The school is run by Synergy Multi Academy Trust.

Railway preservation society seeks volunteers

Whitwell & Reepham Railway is looking for volunteers to help keep the railway running.
 
It especially needs painters, bricklayers, carpenters, general handypersons and gardeners.
 
Whitwell Station itself could also do with someone who could spare three or four hours a week to look after the building, helping to keep it clean and dust free.

Reusable sanitary towels for Malawi school

Reepham Primary School PE teacher Alison Hudson, who was part of a reciprocal visit to a school in Dedza, Malawi, was touched by the issue of girls missing school due to the fact they have no sanitary towels.
 
She approached a few friends to help her with making reusable towels and would now like the community to get involved.
 
The group is meeting for a sewing get-together at the primary school on Tuesday 9 July at 5.30 pm and on Saturday 20 July at 9.30 am.
