Drop-in exhibition for Norfolk Vanguard offshore windfarm plans

Vattenfall is to hold a public drop-in exhibition in Reepham to outline its Preliminary Environmental Information Report (PEIR) and associated Non-Technical Summary (NTS) for its proposed Norfolk Vanguard offshore windfarm.

As part of a series of public information days across Norfolk, the event will take place on Wednesday 8 November in the Bircham Centre, Market Place, Reepham, from 1–7 pm.
The 100% Swedish state-owned company is currently preparing an application for a Development Consent Order (DCO) for this large-scale project, which is planned to be built off the coast of Norfolk.
The DCO application will be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for consideration before a final decision is made by the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, possibly in mid/late 2019.
If approved the 60-km underground cable corridor could pass through or near a number of towns and villages across Norfolk, including Cawston, Reepham, Bawdeswell and Sparham, en route from Bacton to the existing National Grid substation at Necton.
The cables are planned to cross those of another large offshore windfarm project, proposed by Dong Energy, at a field on the Salle Estate just north of Reepham.
So far, Vattenfall has been developing its proposals in an informal consultation with statutory stakeholders, landowners and local communities in Norfolk.
It will now embark on a period of statutory formal consultation, which will take place from 7 November 2017 until midnight 11 December 2017.
A Statement of Community Consultation (SoCC) has been developed in discussion with the relevant local authorities. This document aims to set out and explain how and when Vattenfall will consult with the local community on these proposals and provides further details in relation to this formal consultation process.
The SoCC can be viewed at various information across Norfolk or downloaded at: www.vattenfall.co.uk/norfolkvanguard
The PEIR and associated NTS is also available at these locations and online.
Residents can send feedback:

  1. By post to: Norfolk Vanguard, The Union Building, 51-59 Rose Lane, Norwich NR1 1BY
  2. By email: info@norfolkvanguard.co.uk
  3. By completing a consultation questionnaire available at public events, drop-in locations and on the project website: www.vattenfall.co.uk/norfolkvanguard; these questionnaires can also be emailed or posted.

For general enquiries and further information, call the project phone line 01603 567995.
