Watch the Tour of Britain in Reepham and Cawston

Communities and businesses in the Broadland district are set to benefit from the arrival of the Tour of Britain, which passes through the region on Saturday 12 September.

A cycle event fun day is being held at Cawston Village Hall from 10 am – 2 pm

Now with the added appeal of Tour de France winner and Olympic gold medallist Sir Bradley Wiggins taking part, the Tour is set to attract scores of spectators as it travels through locations, including Reepham and Cawston.

Suggested viewing areas along the route will be marked with banners, but people are encouraged to come and cheer the cyclists from any safe spot they choose. The race is expected to pass through Reepham and Cawston from approximately 10.35 – 10.45 am.

Community events are taking place at several points along the route on the day and Cawston has geared up for the event with its very own Tour series this week. People of all ages saw who could get around the village playing field the fastest in the Tour of Cawston. Each individual completed a timed cycle of the course, with the quickest in each age group winning a certificate.

On Saturday 12 September, a cycle event fun day is being held at Cawston Village Hall from 10 am – 2 pm, where spectators can cheer on Tour of Britain participants from the village hall and then enjoy a barbecue, ice cream van, cake stall, table-top sale, bouncy castle, face painting, circus skills and a host of games.

Those heading to Reepham to watch the Tour will also get the chance to see artists from Norwich-based Moosey Art doing some live art on canvas on The Original Cottage Company building.

And do not forget to visit Broadland District Council’s Tour-themed baby gorilla, named Jambo by a young resident, which is dressed ready for the race outside Rushlight Gallery in Reepham Market Place.
