Bircham Centre seeks new administrator

The Bircham Centre will be looking for a new Administrator in 2017.

Gill, the present Administrator, explained “I’ve had a fantastic 3.5 years with the Bircham Centre and loved every minute of it. I was the first paid Administrator, previously the Centre was run by a number of volunteers which worked very well, but I think it’s helped having a dedicated person that the public and users of the building know they can come to.

Hopefully my time here has helped professionalise the Centre on more of a business level, there were a lot of manual systems when I arrived where as everything now is computerised and linked.

The Trustees that I have worked with have all been fantastic, it never ceases to amaze me the commitment and in some cases, the hours they put in to running the Centre; it’s such an asset for the town. They make a fabulous team and it’s been a privilege to work for them but I feel it’s time now for a new face to join the team as Administrator and help take the Centre to its next stage of development. Just as the Trustees change every few years I think it’s healthy that the Administrator does too. My husband and I will still be living in Reepham and using the Centre and I look forward to seeing it continue to grow.”

Brenda Green, Chair of the Trustees said “Since I became a Trustee in 2014 Gill has been an invaluable source of information and knowledge for me.  The smooth day to day running of the office is down to her and the many systems she has put in place.  Her friendly welcoming manner is much appreciated by the Trustees and the public who visit the Centre. She will be greatly missed by us all.  We hope she will continue to take an interest in the Centre and call in and see us often.

The role has developed over the last few years since Gill has been in post but basically involves being the ‘face’ for the Bircham Centre, dealing with the bookings and public enquiries, all the administration that goes with running the charity and the monthly accounts. We wanted to raise this now in case there is anyone in the town that is thinking about a part time job in the New Year. Gill leaves us at the start of April so we are hoping to find someone that can shadow Gill during March to learn the role.”

If you are interested in the role and would like to find out more please contact Gill or Brenda on 01603 879242 or thebirchamcentre@gmail.com
