Safety hazard in Catchback Lane

In the centre of Catchback Lane a footpath runs off to the west to join the Marriott's Way (it is the one flooded in wet weather). Where the two paths join there was a stile in a fence approached by a flight of wooden steps. This has somehow been destroyed, with timbers standing up in the air, like debris from an explosion (as at 9 May 05.00). The county council has been informed.

Please take very great care if you wish to attempt to cross where the stile was, particularly if you are climbing the stair up from the footpath.

Smugglers Lane works finished

NCC Highways have given us prior notification of closure of Smugglers Lane, Reepham, for five days from 29 March. Access to the surgery will be maintained from the Dereham Road end.

However, a resident informs us that the road closure has already taken place and it is understood the work is now complete – the signs placed in advance apparently showed the wrong dates.

Station Road closure

NCC have informed us that Station Road, Reepham is to be closed from 15th-26th February, for electrical works. The closure will only affect the section from Townsend Crossroads to the car park entrance - what is locally known as the Gorge or Canyon. We presume diversions will be signposted.

Tree hazard in Norwich Road cemetery

During the last few weeks, large portions of two red chestnut trees at the far end of Norwich Road (disused) cemetery have fallen in high winds. A third tree is still standing, but is dangerous. These are the trees that line the end boundary behind the seat. They will be removed when possible, but while the stormy weather continues please take great care in this area. The other trees in this cemetery have all been examined and certified safe.

Road cones hazard

Due to the weather conditions road cones have been blowing around streets in the Market Place area.

Cones marked RTC belong to the town council and live outside St Michael's House. Cones marked with a Latin cross belong to the church and are kept outside the boiler room (right of the porch). Yellow no-parking cones are the responsibillity of the police.
