Representatives from Synergy Multi-Academy Trust were in attendance at the Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 11 February. The application for approval of reserved matters following outline approval for a new sports hall at Reepham High School & College has been submitted, and they stressed the importance of community engagement for what will be a community facility. They are going to advertise what is being proposed and how people can help.

A quote was accepted to install lighting into the main car park at Stimpson’s Piece.

The town sign has been removed from the pound, outside the churchyard entrance, and is being renovated.

It was agreed to appoint Garden Guardian to continue with the grass cutting contract.

Skips were recently delivered to the Stony Lane and Fiddlers Field allotment sites for tenants to clear any rubbish from their plot.

Various highways issues were identified and will be reported. Highways issues (potholes, etc.) can be reported online HERE.

The town council would like to thank John Tym, who has worked tirelessly to ensure that the Wednesday Lunch Club can continue following Whitwell Hall entering administration. Whitwell & Reepham Station are also thanked, both for hosting the lunch club jointly with the Kings Arms and for allowing their minibus to be used.

The council is engaging with the Quietways Project in Reepham. There is a meeting at the Bircham Centre on Thursday 19 February, where further information will be provided.

Two anonymous letters have been sent to the town council in the past month. Both were querying things outside the council’s remit. Residents are welcome to contact the town council with queries, but must provide contact information, so they can be signposted to the correct bodies to help.

The council is looking into highlighting the lack of a pedestrian crossing on Station Road, despite it being on the original plans for the care village and Co-Op. A “day of action” is being planned to coincide with Biodiversity Day on Friday 22 May.

There are currently four vacancies on the town council. Anyone interested should contact the clerk for further information and an informal chat.
