Broadland District Council is teaming up with the Bircham Centre to help Reepham secure official Mindful Town status – and they’re calling on local people to get involved.
To qualify, the town needs six Wellbeing Champions: everyday residents, small business owners, volunteers, sports coaches and community group members who want to support others.
Champions don’t take on counselling roles or extra duties – instead, they use basic mental health awareness to spot when someone might be struggling and gently signpost them to help.
Two new mental health awareness training sessions are being held at the Bircham Centre for Reepham and surrounding villages (please arrive 10 minutes early):
- Tuesday 28 July, 10 am–12.30 pm
- Tuesday 4 August, 6–8.30 pm
Each 2½‑hour session covers stress, common mental health conditions, signs someone may be finding things difficult, and how to start a supportive conversation.
Participants will also learn about the council’s Help Hub and other services, and receive access to a private online resource area with further links and guidance.
Anyone wishing to book a place can do so HERE.
