Charity relay caps busy summer for running club

Reepham Runners have enjoyed a busy and successful summer, beginning with another sold‑out 10K in the July sunshine.

In late August, the club joined forces with Aylsham Runners for a special celebration run at the All Day Brewery Company, Salle Moor Farm. Mixed relay teams – each pairing two runners from both clubs – marked the close friendship between the groups and reflected on last year’s life‑saving incident, when members worked together to revive a Reepham runner who suffered a cardiac arrest. CPR and an automatic external defibrillator were used to stabilise him before emergency services arrived.

More than 150 people attended the event, enjoying a pint of the specially brewed celebration ale Gordon’s Alive. Music from Sidecar Sadie & The Champagne Charlies, who donated their fee, and a well‑supported raffle helped raise £700 for the Norfolk Accident Rescue Service.

A CPR training session will be organised in the coming months to give members and the wider community the chance to learn – or refresh – this vital skill.

The club has further activities planned, including a litter‑pick run at the end of November and the Christmas Reepham Run in December. Residents may spot twinkling lights or bin bags bobbing along the streets as runners take part.

Reepham Runners also expressed their thanks to local equipment business Millione, after director Craig Doyle responded to the club’s request for shelving to help organise its container and equipment. The bespoke unit has already made a significant difference, and the club is grateful for his support.
