Christmas Shopping Evening

Reepham's second late night shopping event took place last week and, to be frank, it wasn't as well attended as we had hoped.  However, some of our great shops did report success.  Thank you very much to all those shops who opened on the night - your support for this event was really appreciated.

Clearly many potential customers were put off by the weather - it was the day of the big storm surge - although as the evening progressed the wind died down and the sky cleared to a beautiful starlit night...

Love Local - sounds good to me...

Good to read yesterday that the EDP is championing the Love Local campaign and encouraging readers to shop locally this Christmas.

Reepham Chamber is making it easier for all of us in Reepham and the surrounding area to do just that.  We are organising a special Christmas Late Night Shopping Evening on Thurs 5 December here in Reepham.  Many of our shops will be staying open until 8pm - look out for special offer vouchers in December's Reepham Life.

Next Reepham Chamber Meeting 1 Oct 6 pm at the Bircham Centre

The Chamber usually meets on the last Tuesday of the month, but on this occasion we have deferred the meeting until Tuesday 1 October. Meeting time is 6 pm and we will be in the upstairs room at the Bircham Centre. Representatives from businesses from Reepham and the surrounding area are welcome to attend.
We have lots to talk about: the Chamber is heavily involved in delivering the projects that have been proposed to help Reepham develop in this challenging financial environment.

Let's hear it for Hampton's

I’m feeling very sad this morning.  I heard yesterday that the enthusiasm of one of our successful new businesses owners is being badly knocked by the actions of a few disgruntled people who appear to want to get that business closed down.

Can I say, here and now, that I love Hampton’s and think it is a huge asset to Reepham.  I believe it is a perfect example of how a small town like ours can become home to key independent businesses.

Your new Chairman of the Chamber

I'm proud to be able to announce that at the Chamber of Commerce meeting on Tuesday 25 June, members did me the honour of appointing me as their new Chairman. I'm grateful to Alex Albery for volunteering to take on the role as our secretary.

I'm a strong believer in Reepham's business community - I think it has an unrivalled diversity and that we can compete readily with other small towns in the area. I want to see the Chamber working closely with other groups and organisations to grow our prosperity.

Cash for good causes - from Almary Green

Norwich-based Independent Financial Advisers, Almary Green, have a £10,000 annual charitable fund that they award in grants of anything from £100 to £2,000 to charities and community projects throughout East Anglia.

The closing date for this year's award nominations is 30 June. To find out more and to get a nomination form, visit their website at www.almarygreen.com/awards

Next Reepham Chamber Meeting

The next full meeting of the Chamber is on Tuesday 25 June, 7.30pm at the King's Arms, Reepham.  At this meeting we are joined by Consultants, Ingham Pinnock, who will give us an update on progress with the Broadland DC backed project to revitalise and sustain Reepham's business environment.  They will be looking both to inform us as business owners and managers and to get our feedback on their proposals.  This is Reepham Businesses' chance to be heard, so all businesses owners/managers are invited, whether they are members of the Chamber or not.

Royal British Legion coffee morning 23 May

There will be a coffee morning in aid of the Royal British Legion at the home of Desmond and Margaret Gostling at 12 Pightle Way, Reepham, on Thursday 23 May from 10.00 am to midday. As well as tea/coffee and biscuits, there will be Bring & Buy, plants, tombola and a raffle.  I hope you will go along and support them!
