Sailor’s perspective on the dramatic 2024 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

The Bircham Centre in Reepham is hosting a presentation by trustee Carl Lamb about his experience of taking part in the 2024 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

The yachting event is one of the most challenging offshore races in the world, and Mr Lamb will share stories from the deck, insights into race tactics and behind-the-scenes moments that won’t be heard anywhere else.

Whether you’re a sailing enthusiast or simply love stories of human grit and adventure, this talk promises to be compelling.

Mr Lamb is a former RAF fighter controller based in Neatishead during the Cold War and served in the South Atlantic during the Falklands War, so has seen his share of stressful situations in the past.

However, the 2024 Sydney Hobart race was a particularly demanding one in which two sailors lost their lives. His presentation will reflect on the drama as it unfolded and the impact it had on all those who took part.

The talk will take place on Tuesday 14 April at 7 pm, upstairs in the board room at the Bircham Centre, Market Place, Reepham.

Tickets are £20 including wine, canapés and a raffle ticket, available from the Bircham Centre Charity Shop or email to reserve your place; cash only.
