Like many parents in Reepham I take my child to the play area on Stimpson’s Piece. My daughter especially enjoys the swings, the big slide and showing me how bad I am at using the new gym equipment – nothing like the honesty of your children to give you that confident boost!
I have had a few parents contact me about the skatepark and some of the play equipment. I also take my daughter to play areas in other parishes where some of the equipment is more recent – as long as she is having fun and it’s safe then I’m pretty relaxed about it.
That said, I know there is an aspiration to upgrade what is there but due to finances it hasn’t been possible as yet. The skatepark is still on the “to do” list and for similar financial reasons the rebuild has yet to take off.
My message today is “can you help?”. I see other skateparks or play areas where some incredible work has been undertaken and it is always on the back of a small group of volunteers who made things happen.
I know the town council would love to see some new faces and energy to help drive things forward, help with fundraising, see if the plans agreed are still applicable and if the users of these facilities would like to get involved.
Also needed are grant bidding assistance, helping to tell the story and speaking to other parishes that have been successful to learn from.
I am keen to help. Reepham is a wonderful place to live and we have a brilliant play area; my daughter loves it. We might be able to make it a little better and I’d love to hear from you about what you think and if you may be able to help. My details are below.
