Archive to present history of local brewing and pubs

The Bircham Centre and Reepham Archive will focus on the town’s brewing heritage for this year’s annual presentation, titled “Brewing and Pubs in Reepham”.

The event will explore the full process from malting barley to serving beer, alongside the history of the town’s former brewery, which owned around 50 pubs across Norfolk during the 1800s.

Presenter Brenda Gostling will also examine the 14 drinking establishments historically operating in Reepham, Hackford and Whitwell, sharing stories about the buildings, their owners and former licensees.

Following last year’s rapid sell‑out, the organisers have scheduled four separate sessions:

  • Saturday 31 October, 7 pm, St Michael’s, Reepham – £15, including drinks and a mini ploughman’s box.
  • Thursday 12 November, 3 pm, St Michael’s, Reepham – £12, including light refreshments.
  • Wednesday 18 November, 6.30 pm, The Dial House, Reepham – £25, including pizza slices and salad (drinks extra). Tickets also available online from The Dial House online.
  • Saturday 21 November, 10 am, a guided “Pub Crawl” walk starting at the Bircham Centre – £10, including coffee at The Crown.

Tickets can be purchased in person from the Bircham Centre (Monday–Friday mornings) or Norfolk Print & Design (Monday–Thursday, 10 am – 4 pm), both located in Reepham’s Market Place. Cash only.
