Reepham Craft Makers Market takes over

Sandy and Terry Nevard, who have organised the Reepham Arts and Crafts Fair for the past few years, have decided to move on to other ventures.

The new organisers, Sue Johnston and Gloria Davis, both of Reepham, have decided to rename the event the Reepham Craft Makers Market.

They hope to keep up the standard set by Sandy and Terry, with an emphasis on the quality of goods on display. At least 90% of all items on sale will be crafted or produced by the stallholders (or a close relative), with no “bought ins” to be sold on.

Medieval drink packs a punch at WI meeting

Just a few words about Rosie Wilkin, who dressed in her medieval cook’s outfit and had us in stitches at the February meeting of Reepham WI.

As well as explaining the origins of the word “pinny” and a couple of rude swear words (which I am unable to divulge), she passed round samples of Anglo-Saxon bread, meat pie and mead.

A number of official cars will attend; therefore drivers are asked to take extra care in Church Hill/Market Place from 12.00, and at the cemetery gates in Whitwell Road around 2.15 - 3 pm.

Smugglers Lane works finished

NCC Highways have given us prior notification of closure of Smugglers Lane, Reepham, for five days from 29 March. Access to the surgery will be maintained from the Dereham Road end.

However, a resident informs us that the road closure has already taken place and it is understood the work is now complete – the signs placed in advance apparently showed the wrong dates.

The Bircham Centre Charity Shop has placed some restrictions on what items it can accept as donations.

To conform with health and safety regulations, and for the safety of the volunteers who run the shop, the Bircham Centre is now unable to take the following items: cycle helmets or helmets of any type; cots and prams; walking frames; highchairs; car seats; electrical goods; videos; encyclopaedias; magazines; and artificial Christmas trees.
