Driver taken to hospital as tree crushes car in Booton

A man had to be taken to hospital after he narrowly avoided serious injury when a massive, ancient tree fell on his car while he was driving in Booton during Storm Eunice.
 
Police were called at 2.50 pm today by Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, following reports of a fallen tree landing on cars with people inside on Church Lane, near St Michael the Archangel’s Church.
 
A neighbouring farmer, Jeremy Buxton of Eves Hill Farm, also pitched in after being called by the emergency services to help.

‘Rare’ gold coin found near Reepham valued at £140,000

An “extremely rare and important” Edward III leopard gold coin found by a metal detectorist near Reepham in 2019 is expected to fetch up to £140,000 at auction.
 
The 23-carat coin was declared treasure by a Norfolk coroner and will be sold at auction by Dix Noonan Webb in March.
