Furniture painted for you or by you

Hand-painted furniture creators Country Modern has been selected as exclusive local stockists of some of the latest high-tech paints and is now holding painting workshops at its premises in Nowhere Lane, Great Witchingham.

Vintage Paints from Grand Illusions and Milk Paints from General Finishes are both modern versions of traditional milk paints. By replacing the milk or casein with a small amount of water-based acrylic medium, the paint is easier to work with while still giving a matt, chalky, breathable finish.

Country Modern’s Clive Osborne explained: “The paints are available in a wide range of mixable colours and adhere to virtually any surface. They require minimal or no preparation and generally require just two coats, which can be applied with a roller, sponge or brush.

“They’re perfect for distressing, ageing, antiquing, crackling or for creating a smooth classic finish. And they’re designed for both interior and exterior use and are ideal for upcycling and rejuvenating furniture, walls, floors and much more.”

Fran Osborne added: “We have tried a lot of different types of paint over the years and still use a wide range, but we have found that the latest high-tech ‘milk’ paints provide the best of both worlds – they’re easy to apply, they don’t usually require sanding or priming like traditional eggshell paints and they don’t become sticky and lumpy when applied like some traditional chalk paints can.”

To help customers get the most from the paints, Country Modern will be offering courses in painting techniques. Spend a morning in the beautiful surroundings of the former Norfolk Wildlife Park learning how to apply the paint to get a flawless finish or to use various techniques to give a perfectly imperfect aged effect.

If you are interested in the courses, or would like to buy a bespoke piece of furniture or have one created especially for you, contact Clive and Fran on Osborne 01603 554224 or email contactus@countrymodern.co.uk
