Wildlife at Mayfields Farm to benefit from Biffa Award

The Countryside Restoration Trust (CRT) has received a grant of £15,960 from Biffa Award to restore an area of wet woodlands in Norfolk.

CRT’s Mayfields Farm in Themelthorpe, near Reepham, includes an area of wet woodland on a former clay pit site.

The rare habitat has attracted a variety of unusual plants and wildlife which CRT wants to conserve, preserve and share with the local community.

The grant from Biffa Award will enable staff and volunteers to tidy the area and put in a wooden pathway with information signs to make the area more enjoyable for visitors.

CRT director Martin Carter said: “I am thrilled Biffa Award will be helping us to have a safe and accessible wildlife walk, allowing more of the local community to learn about what they are seeing. Hopefully our work will also increase the wildlife we have in the area.”

It is hoped to have the area prepared and ready for the public this autumn.
