Third beer festival raises more than £500 for charity

The third Reepham Beer Festival was held at Stimpson’s Piece pavilion, Reepham, over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Organised by Panther Brewery, the three-day event showcased some of the best beers from Norfolk, Sussex, Suffolk and Essex from award-winning microbreweries.

One of the Norfolk ales available had just won the Best Beer in Britain awarded by CAMRA in London.

There was fantastic music over the festival featuring nine bands – Panther head brewer Martin James thought Eye of the Panther were outstanding.

Many people were so impressed with Almost Elton with his sparkly outfits that they thought he must be a professional. Thanks to all the bands who played, with most waving their fees for this charitable event.

There was plenty of tasty food to soak up the beer, including freshly baked pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven, curries to die for and ice cream to cool us down.

Thanks also to the supporters of this event, including Reepham Life, Norfolk Country Cottages and Cookes Pianos, which supplied the piano for Elton.

The event could not have taken place without the volunteers who worked hard throughout the weekend, providing everyone with ale, as well as setting up and cleaning away.

The continental bar was again a great success and many thanks to Cheryl and Mark of Thirst Consultants for running the bar.

This year’s event raised more than £500, which will be split between Reepham Scouts and Stimpson’s Piece charity.

Next year we will be letting the grass grow again at Stimpson’s Piece, but look out for a Panther Brewery Beer Festival in the future.
