Gavin and Victoria Hunt picked up the accolade in September having taken over the running of the village pub just two years ago.

The couple also run The Lodge Restaurant & Bar at North Tuddenham, which has been under their management for nine years.

The award was the result of a public vote of EDP and EDP Norfolk Magazine readers, with The Fox at Lyng beating The Swan in Loddon and the Banningham Crown in the best pub category.

“Our staff work fantastically hard to ensure our customers have a great time and feel welcomed at The Fox and we are immensely proud to have such a great team and a great pub,” said Mrs Hunt. “It seems we have a lot of people sharing that view who took the time to vote for us.”

The awards were presented at Open in Norwich in front of an audience of more than 250 people at the celebration of the county’s food heroes, held in association with East of England Co-op.

Eleven winners were chosen from the finalists after an intensive summer of tasting, visiting and interviewing the numerous entries.

Crush Foods of Salle was runner-up in the Made in Norfolk award.
