Candidates announced for local elections

Four candidates have put themselves forward for the Reepham ward of Broadland District Council at the local elections to be held on Thursday 4 May:

  • Roy Ashman (Conservative)
  • Stuart Beadle (Liberal Democrats)
  • Jo Emmerson (Labour)
  • Sarah Morgan (Green)

 

 
Mr Beadle currently holds the seat for the Liberal Democrats, which was last contested in May 2019, when he received 43% of the 901 valid votes cast, ahead of 34% for the Conservative’s Graham Everett in second place.
 
Broadland District Council is currently Conservative-controlled.
 
For the first time this year, voters will need to show photographic ID when arriving at polling stations.
 
The polling station in Reepham is the Bircham Centre, Market Place.
 
Town council election uncontested
 
The election of councillors for Reepham Town Council will be uncontested as only seven residents put themselves forward and have been be duly elected:

  • Jenny Harding
  • Alice Hazelwood
  • Andy Herbert
  • Guppy Kular
  • Mark Lester
  • Paul Mitchell
  • Matthew Steel

 
Reepham Town Council should have 12 elected members. The chair and vice chair are elected at the annual town council meeting, which this year will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday 10 May at Stimpson’s Piece Pavilion, Bartle Court, Reepham.
 
Meetings are usually held at 7.30 pm on the second Wednesday of each month (excluding August) in the town hall.
 
The town council now has five vacancies. If a vacancy occurs between elections and an election is not called, a candidate can be co-opted to the town council.
