Tweet Tweet!

Twitter...  For some of us it's a fascinating insight into the minds of those we interact with both on a personal and a business front.  For others it's a mysterious activity that has its own language and customs like some kind of secret society.

If you're one of the latter group and if you want people to know about what you do - either as a business or a community organisation - then the Reepham Chamber Social Media Workshop session this Tuesday 17 June, 7.30pm, at Reepham High School is for you.

I'm a big fan of Twitter.  It's fast, easy and direct.  Once you're in it, you can dedicate as much or as little time to it as you like.  It doesn't have to be your main communication stream but can reinforce what you are trying to tell people.  And, importantly, it will cost you nothing but your time.

An example:  if you say something on Twitter (aka "tweeting") and I'm following you, if I pass it on to everyone who follows me (aka "retweeting") then suddenly what you've said is seen by my 161 (as at the time of writing) followers.  And if one of them likes what they see and retweets it, it will go to all their followers.  Your one message has the potential to reach hundreds or even thousands of people.

The point I want to make at the workshop is that it's easy.  You can start off passively just watching what others are saying and doing, then take small steps to get involved yourself.  It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

So, if you want to know more and understand how it works in practice, come along to the workshop. Or if you are already a Twitter user and would like to share your hints and experiences, please come along too. Places are free of charge: book yours by phoning Jeremy on 01603 870201 or email us at reephamchamber@gmail.com

The workshop will be a relaxed informal session run by Chamber members.  We're not experts, but everyday users who believe that Twitter can play an important role in reaching out to our target audience.

Hope to see you there!
